P559 E-2D Aircrew Training Facility, Naval Base Ventura County

Project Overview

Michael Wall Engineering provided electrical construction documents for the $15M 31,334SF Aircrew Training Facility located at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA. The 2-story facility was designed and constructed to receive LEED silver certification.  The facility includes a sophisticated high-bay trainer, a weapons system trainer, a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF), a 100-person auditorium, debrief spaces, ten (10) classrooms,  administrative spaces and support spaces.

The work included a 1500kVA substation, power distribution, 300kVA UPS/PDU units for flight simulation, lighting, fire alarm, sound-masking, beacon security lighting, access control, and network systems to support training of pilots and aircrew assigned to the E-2D aircraft.

The network systems include Secret Internet Protocol Routing Network (SIPRNET), Non-secure Internet Routing Network (NIPRNET), electronic security system (ESS), Air Combat Online (ACOL), and proximity card reader/controlled access system.  Site work included almost 2-miles of fiber and copper telecommunications underground infrastructure.
