San Diego, California

Michael Wall Engineering, Inc. prepared electrical construction documents for a 56,000SF laboratory improvement in an existing building for Metabasis Therapeutics. The space included 32,000SF of biology and chemistry laboratories located on three levels; 7,000SF of vivarium located in grade, 1,000SF of tissue culture labs featuring tandem NMR machines, 12,000SF of office space including conference rooms, and a 1,500SF server room. The building design included a new central plant, D-I skid, steam generator, redundant chiller, medical gas storage, and 600kW emergency generator system. Detailed program review meetings were conducted with the Metabasis staff and scientists in order to create this complex basis of design.
