This 150,000SF facility houses academic and research laboratories throughout its four stories. The project includes biology, chemistry, geology, and physics labs, as well as lab support areas, equipment rooms, and multi-function classrooms. Coordination of signal systems including fire alarm, telephone, data, security, and audio/visual was integrated into the electrical design. An emergency power system with 1000kW in capacity provides life safety and optional standby power to both the Science Center and the nearby Kroc Institute. Detailed coordination of lab power requirements were made with the laboratory architect in addition to coordination of common area power and lighting with the building architect.
