Michael Wall Engineering, Inc. has examined, surveyed, tested, designed, and documented several outdoor welding table substations at the NASSCO shipyards over the course of several projects. Evaluation of existing substation loads and 12kV infrastructure capacity was performed at Table 2, On-Block, M-lane, L-lane, Substation 4, Substation D, and Substation 38. The design of new, replacement 2500kVA substations and the associated 12kV distribution system for M-Lane, L-Lane, and Table 2 was performed directly for NASSCO Engineering. All new substation designs featured very rugged electrical switchgear suitable for the outdoor marine industrial environment.
